Here’s a quick post to show you How To Create A Successful Website.

But first, let’s get a couple of things straight:

This isn’t The Way to set up a successful website – Just an overview of how to do it. There’s more than one way to skin a cat.

In the world of the internet, things change quickly and constantly. This may be the way I do it this week or month, but there’s a good chance that it may be tweaked tomorrow. It pays to keep on top of topics like SEO and Pay Per Click.

Ok, so how do we Create A Successful Website?

The first thing to do is to define how it will be successful. You may want your website to be successful in a number of different ways such as:

Make a pot loads of money with Affiliate Marketing … or

Make just make enough to pay your mortgage.

Build up a list of qualified subscribers with your Autoresponder.

Change peoples opinion.

I strongly suggest that you write down how you will measure the success of your website so that you are able to measure it. Will it be measured on:

Making $10,000 a month?

Making $45 a day?

5000 supscribers?

250 people converting to solar power to help save the environment?

Build on how you define you success to create a strategy for achieving you success.

Next, you will need to set up the technology to Create Your Successful Website.

This would include things like buying a domain name, choosing website hosting, and deciding if you are going to use a CMS (Content Management System) like WordPress or Joomla.

If you are planning on getting a bit advanced, you would also want to look at things like Autoresponders and PPC.

Once you have got everything in place, you can work out how to get the most important thing that you are going to need to make your website a success. Website Traffic.

Website traffic is critically important because of the nature of the numbers game or law of averages.

It works like this. If you get 100 visitors to your website, then a certain percentage of them will take action on what you suggest, whether it is to click an Adsense ad, sign up for your newsletter or purchase a product.

This fundamental law of sales and marketing has been around for as long as people have been selling stuff and it is unlikely to disappear any time soon.

Building website traffic is not just about getting visitors. It is also about keeping visitors.

Keeping your visitors and getting them to return to your website can be achieved by applying methods such as increasing website stickiness and email marketing.

So now that you have set your goals for your websites success, built your website and got it online, and are getting a whole heap of visitors, remember to keep a track of what is working and what is not.

By using the 80/20 rule, you can spend your time improving what works well and prevent yourself wasting time on what is not working.

Also, remember to keep an eye on new developments in what affects your website so that you can adapt to new conditions or use new technology to increase your success.

In Web Traffic Is The Key To Success, I explained how increased traffic leads to increased success.

Another way to boost your traffic is to implement Website Stickiness.

In a nutshell, Website Stickiness is a term used to describe how your website visitors stay at your website and view as much information as possible.

There are a number of ways that you can implement Website Stickiness on your site. You could try the following:

Intra-Linking – This is where you link to other parts of your website from an individual article. I did it here in the first sentence of this article.

Categories – Categorise each of your articles. Make it easy for visitors to view articles on similar topics. The second sentence of this article links to my Traffic Building category.

Recommend – After each article, point visitors to recommended articles of similar content.

Another good exercise is to be aware of what you do when you visit a new website. What is it that makes you stay there? What do they do to increase their Website Stickiness?
